    Cookie Policy

    This Cookie Policy applies to websites (platforms) maintained by Allegro.pl sp. z o.o. with its registered office in Poznań. The Cookie Policy includes information on the following:

    • what technologies we use on our websites;
    • what data we process;
    • how we process the data and for what purposes;
    • where we transfer such data and to whom.
    Who is the controller of your personal data?

    Allegro spółka z ograniczoną odpowiedzialnością with its registered office in Poznań at ul. Wierzbięcice 1B (“We”, “Allegro”) is the data controller, or the entity which decides how your personal data will be used on the websites and mobile apps published by Allegro spółka z ograniczoną odpowiedzialnością.

    We make sure that all you rights under Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data, and repealing Directive 95/46/EC (the General Data Protection Regulation, hereinafter “GDPR”) are respected, i.e. the right to object to the processing of your personal data, the right to access them, have them rectified, erased, to have their processing restricted, as well as to receive a copy of the data we hold, and the right to data portability. In order to obtain information or exercise your rights regarding the processing of your personal data, please contact us, preferably by sending an email to: iod@allegro.pl or writing to the address: Data Protection Officer [Inspektor Ochrony Danych], Allegro sp. z o.o., ul. Wierzbięcice 1B, 61-569 Poznań.

    When you click links on our websites and in our mobile apps, you may be redirected to websites or platforms managed by entities that are independent of us. In such case, personal data are processed in line with principles set out by those entities and included e.g. in the data protection policy applicable to those services or applications available on third-party websites or platforms.

    Also third-party controllers (our partners) may process your personal data, if in the cookie banner you give the relevant consents for your personal data to be transferred to them – therefore, before you give them, please get to know the principles according to which those entities process personal data.

    If any matters related to how cookies or similar technologies work are not clear to you or you are less than 16 years of age, do not give consent for them to be used.

    What technologies are used on our websites and mobile apps?

    Our websites and mobile apps use cookies and other technologies and tools, such as e.g. pixels, SDK, local storage files, tags, digital fingerprinting (collectively known as “cookies”) when you use them. MetaRouter tools from our vendor, Nessa Labs Inc., may be used for the purposes of marketing the products and services offered on Allegro platforms or websites, as well as for analytical purposes. MetaRouter allows for collecting information stored on your device and combining it with information on your activity collected through our cookie (first party cookie) or mobile advertising ID. The MetaRouter technology allows Allegro to register information on what happens on the website (e.g. a purchase, an account being set up) in the server-side technology (at Allegro). Then Allegro can decide what user data will be transferred to its external partners. Tools from AppsFlyer Ltd. that we use in our mobile applications work similarly.

    We use our proprietary ID Graph solution, which connects various technical signals into a single, cohesive advertising profile - including a browser identifier, the allecookie file, and (for logged-in Users) the Allegro Account identifier. As a result, the system creates an aggregated profile of your shopping interests without directly using personal data such as your name or email address. This allows for precise matching of displayed ads, including within automated online auctions on the websites of our partners (external publishers). Showing personalized ads outside of Allegro using this technology takes place only if you consent to marketing cookies on the Allegro banner, consent to Allegro displaying ads on the given partner's website (under the IAB TCF standard), and - in the case of logged-in Users - do not object to profiling. An objection raised in your Account automatically blocks the ID Graph system and prevents ad matching.

    What are cookies?

    Cookies are IT data stored on users’ end devices (such as a computer, mobile, or tablet) sent by websites and mobile apps. Such files make it possible to recognize the user’s device and correctly display the website, which includes adjusting it to that user’s personal preferences. They also make it possible to display the website in the user’s language “remembered” by such files, and to use other website settings selected by the user. Cookies usually contain the name of the website from which they originate, their storage time on the end device, and a unique number. Depending on the website or device you use, the type and amount of cookies processed may vary. In order to display ads, perform analytics, and make it easier for you to use our functionalities, in services where cookies may not work (e.g. mobile apps) we may use technologies that work in a similar way as cookies.

    Model installation process and the functioning of cookies

    First visit on the website.

    cookie policy 1

    While the connection with the server is being established, after you have given the relevant consents if any are required, the server saves a cookie on your end device (e.g. computer, mobile, or tablet), which stores information about the language you want to use on the website.

    Subsequent visit to the website.

    cookies policy 2

    When you visit the website again, the server reads the information included in the cookie stored on your device – this is why, for example, the website displays in the language you selected earlier.

    What purposes do we use cookies for?
    • ensuring security and preventing misuse (which includes preventing access by unauthorized persons);
    • tailoring website content to the user’s preferences and end device, and to optimize the use of websites;
    • preventing bots from doing certain things on our websites;
    • making it easier to log in to the user’s account, also through social media, and to move between pages on the websites without the need to log in again on each page;
    • preparing anonymous aggregated statistics that help us understand how the user uses the websites, which makes it possible to improve their structure and content;
    • improving the functioning of websites, which includes checking their efficiency;
    • identifying ads that the user has displayed and to display ads on our and external websites, including those that are best suited to the user’s activity on websites.
    What data about you do we process?

    We may process data regarding the way you use the website on your computer, mobile, tablet or any other device you use to access websites. Some of those data, when combined with other data, may qualify as personal data. We may process the following information using our Internet technologies:

    • the name of the website from which the cookies originate, their storage time on the end device, and their unique number;
    • device information (e.g. device type/model, unique device ID, MAC address, IP address, operational system, operational system version and device settings, the language set, screen resolution, type and version of Internet browser);
    • events (e.g. time spent using the website, last visit on the website, duration of visit on the website, type of websites and pages visited, which stage the user is at in the purchase process);
    • location data (e.g. IP address, information on your location obtained using various geolocation technologies);
    • other data: information on using websites (e.g. source from which you enter, advertising campaign from which you accessed the page, links you clicked, ads you have seen, and consents you gave in the cookie banner).
    Transferring personal data to countries outside the European Economic Area

    Your personal data may be transferred outside the European Economic Area. Allegro always operates on the basis of mechanisms that ensure an adequate level of protection, which include standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission regarding the transfer of personal data to personal data processors established in third countries. You can receive copies of such clauses from Allegro by writing to: iod@allegro.pl.

    Do we engage in the automated processing of your personal data (including profiling) in a way that affects your rights?

    When you access our websites, data from the end device are processed in an automated manner due to it being evoked or due to activity on the website. This allows us as the data controller to evaluate certain factors that pertain to you, for the purposes for which we use cookies.

    How long are cookies stored on your end device?

    How long the cookies are stored on your end device depends on whether the files are persistent or session cookies.

    Persistent cookies – they are not deleted when the browser is closed and remain on your device for a specified period of time or without any expiry period, depending on the website’s settings.

    Session cookies – cookies placed for the time when you use the browser (duration of a session), and deleted when you close it.

    Where do the cookies come from?

    First party cookies – cookies placed on websites directly by Allegro.

    Third-party cookies – cookies placed on websites by entities other than Allegro.

    What cookies do we use?

    Strictly necessary cookies – they are strictly necessary to ensure the proper or optimal functioning of the website or functionalities that the user wants to use, as without them we would not be able to properly provide many services that we offer. Some of them also ensure the security of services provided by Allegro online. Implementing them on the visitor’s end device does not require their consent. You can block the installation of strictly necessary cookies or remove them using your browser settings; in the extreme case, this may render it impossible, in whole or in part, to display the website, or may make it more difficult to navigate or even use it.

    We process the personal data we obtain through the strictly necessary cookies:

    • under Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR (legitimate interest pursued by the controller, which consists in ensuring the functioning of the website);
    • under Article 6(1)(b) of the GDPR (performance of a contract which the data subject is party to).

    Functional cookies – they record your choices, ensuring a better-tailored service. Information collected by this type of cookies does not provide data on your activity on the websites of Allegro’s partners. Those files:

    • are used to support the functionality of websites; a website should work properly without them but it will not be adapted to your preferences;
    • ensure a high level of website functionality; without them the level of website functionality may be lower, but their absence should not prevent you completely from using it;
    • serve moat of website functionalities; if they are blocked, certain features will not function properly.

    We process the personal data we obtain through functional cookies under Article 6(1)(a) of the GDPR (user consent).

    Tracking pixels

    Allegro also uses tracking pixels. The pixel is programming code that allows for embedding an object on the website, typically an image the size of one pixel, which allows for tracking user behavior on the websites where it has been placed. The pixel may work in an optimum way when combined with the use of first-party or third-party cookies. Once the relevant consent is given, the browser automatically establishes a direct connection with the server that stores the pixel; therefore, the data collected by the pixel are processed under the data protection policy of the entity that manages the server, e.g. an Allegro partner. The partner may associate your visit on Allegro website if you are registered on its platform, also in correlation with a cookie (if any) associated with your session.

    Model functioning of the tracking pixel

    Cookies policy 3

    By clicking the link/banner on the partner’s website, users are redirected to the site of the advertiser. If they access pages with pixels, information about that is sent to the partner’s server and then forwarded to the advertiser; the technology based on SDK tools that we use in mobile apps works in a similar way. Thanks to the pixel, the advertiser obtains aggregated information on how many people who used the link/banner on the partner’s site made a purchase with them, if the pixel was embedded on the order completion page.

    Mobile advertising IDs

    If you agree, our app will receive the marketing ID of your mobile device. In this way, in various apps, on pages and in search engines, you can see ads adjusted to your preferences.

    The IDs include: AdID (Android) and IDFA (iOS).

    The user can clear the IDs and block their use. Information on how to do this is available in your device’s manual.

    If you are an independent user of a mobile app, it is worth considering blocking the use of marketing IDs. In this way, individuals using the same device will not learn your preferences via the displayed ads.

    Third-party functionalities or technologies

    On our websites, we use third-party tools and services, in particular those related to providing services available through the site, as well as to analytics, advertising (including ads based on interests), re-marketing, or measuring the results of advertising campaigns. Providers of cookies or other technologies are listed above.

    Below we describe selected tools from our providers:

    • Google Analytics (Cookies/SDK/Server-side)

    We use Google Analytics tools that collect information on the user’s visits to our websites and use of mobile applications in order to generate statistics on their functioning and to facilitate analysis of activity so that we can better adjust our offering to the needs of our users.

    • Google Advertising Products (Google Ads and Google Marketing Platform)

    Google Marketing Platform (Cookies/SDK/Server-side)

    We use advertising and re-marketing tools. For this purpose, we use Google’s cookies for DoubleClick services. Third-party providers install the relevant code or pixel to collect information on the user’s activity on websites, and then, on that basis, they display our ads to the user who has visited our websites when they go to other websites operated by the advertising network of our third-party providers, and also collect information on the executed campaign, perform site analytics, and analyze segments.

    Google Ads (Cookies/SDK/Server-side)

    Google Ads allows us to display our offer within the Google search engine and on websites that are part of the Google advertising network. As part of Google Ads, we analyze the effectiveness of ads on our pages, which, in cooperation with Google— to whom we provide data on conversions and their value— helps us better tailor our offer to user expectations. When a user clicks on an advertisement banner published by Google, cookies related to the Ads service are stored on their computer.

    • TikTok (Pixel/Cookies/SDK/Server-side)

    TikTok’s tools allow for analyzing and measuring aspects of the products offered and services provided, and for reaching persons who may be interested in them more effectively.

    Responsibility for collecting and transferring data as well as analyzing them (measuring the impact and efficiency of our advertising campaigns) rests with us together with TikTok Technology Limited and TikTok Information Technologies UK Limited (joint controllers).
